Backpack GPS tracker

When going on a holiday, vacation or to SPY on your girlfriend having a GPS datalogger in your backpack would be fun and handy… I just got a brilliant idea to turn u LAPTOP bag (+ur laptop) to a PORTABLE GPS data logger, I just feel its really cool to get back home and replay your path, you could also add a open log or and SD MMC card datalogger to make it smaller….

once you get back…u can get the data and play-back u trip on google earth….and see ur self MOVE….check out the video below and see how cool it is…

embedded…i am lovin it!!

Hi guys after a long break i am back with more of embedded systems, i am really exited, about the Texas Instruments Design challenge and the Renasas design challenge, my final year project has been selected and they have send me their free KIT, the ARM cortex( stellaris) is an awesome kit, it has a OLED display, Ethernet controller, CAN bus, and tonne of other interesting peripherals, the stellaris ware library is also amazing it has a lot of inbuilt library for simple peripherals like Display and even has complex library for AES encryption. The keil compliler which comes in the kit is also friendly to use . the renesas RX is quite new to me and but the packaging and the overall quality i was not impressed with. Event the display is a very basic monochromatic display.
And thanks to EEV blog, from where i came to know about The renasas design challenge.

Use your Reliance Broadband+ modem with ubuntu10.4

connecting the broadband + modem using ubuntu was very difficult…so for those of u out there here you….go…

first go to this link and download and install the driver for linux…in the zip folder you will find three packages. install the package which is for your linux

now go to system>preferences>network connections

go to “mobile broad band” press ADD

select country “india” and ISP as “reliance”

check automatic connect..

set the number as #777

user name and password as 93XXXXXXXX

go to PPP tab> configuration methods only select PAP and CHAP

apply the setting and u might see it is NOT workin!!

that is because your modem functions as USB data storage and a Modem…for that you have to change the device signature..

Executed command ‘modprobe usbserial vendor=0×19d2 product=0xfff1′

and voila…it comes in the network connections tab…and it connects to the network!!press disconnect to “disconnect”…

dont kno…exactly how it work…but it WORKS!!!

The Big Bang…

i just started to watch this TV show called the Big Bang Theory, its hillarious…and the jokes are very geeky…kinda like it better than two and a half men..i liked the big bang theory theme song so go ahead listen to it…its by Barenaked Ladies..sounds gud…and go read the lirics…it really does mean more than it sounds…

trouble adding Facebook badge!!

hi guys adding a face book profile badge in your website or blog…can be quite tricky!!

all u hav to do is, go to this link click here.. here u will see Others + click on it!!

when you click on appearance>>Widgets…u will get two collums available widgets and sidebar1.. now you have to drag the text widget from the the available widgets and drop it in the sidebar1 column, now press the little arrow and u will get two text box title and another big text box under it..u can type in your own title and paste the code genereated by facebook in the bigger box below!

now wen u save it..and try to open the ur blog!! u might see the badge is not working!! so here is something u can try to make it work…

here is where the problem lies!!

u might see it still does not work tat is because! for some reason…it changes does not get saved!! so u have to delete the widget…start over…but this time paste the corrected link..and press SAVE..voila!! your facebook profile badge for your website!!
